Abstract:
Disposal of dyeing wastewater into the environment causes serious damage, since it may significantly affect the
photosynthetic activity of hydrophytes by reducing light penetration and also it may be toxic to some aquatic organisms due to its breakdown products. studies on decolorization of dye by fungi have become popular since fungi started to be used in this field from 1980s. The main progresses of dye decolorization are summarized and analyzed in this paper, including the fungal diversity, mechanism of decolorization and main affecting factors. The decolorization by different kinds of fungi, such as white fungi, microzyme, penicillium and mildew, is all expatiated, the mechanisms of adsorption decolorization and degradation decolorization are discussed, and the advantages of decolorization by fungi and the future work are also proposed in this paper.
