Abstract:
After dark induction for 16h and 24h with 1 μmol/L of methyl viologen,the SOD activities and specific activities of cultured rossel (Hibiscus sabdariffa) cells were increased by 74.8%,324.2%and 69.99%,295.73%,respectively,compared with CK.After contacting with high concentration,1000 μmol/L of methyl viologen,the electrolyte leakage Percentage of those cells pretreated with 1μmol/L of methyl viologen were decreased by 4 8% and at a very significant level (P≤0.01)with difference.The results suggested that the pretreatment of lower concentration of methyl viologen could provide an oxidative stress and induce overexpression of SOD genes,and thus could decrease or eliminate cell damage, such as biomembrane leakage and chlorophyll breakdown,resulted from the free radical O2.
