Abstract:
While the biological reactor of ceramic media column in continuous flow is used to conduct the pretreatment for a certain source of water in cold season(water temp, 2-5℃),biochemical activity of the biololgical reactor of ceramic media column was studied and discussed to provide experimental evidence for the application and development of drinking water bio-pretreatment at low temperature.Results show that the test-set can do a very good job for purification of the raw water in cold season;TTC-dehydrogenase activity in the biological reactor of ceramic media column was in a regular pattern of gradient distribution from the upper to the lower along the direction of water flow;TTC-dehydrogenase activity determinated at low temperature at the upper,middle and lower parts of the reactor was 22.39, 5.70 and 0.408μg/cm3·h-1 respeectively;there was an outstanding correlation between TTC-dehydrogenase aetivity and logarithm of activated bacterium number (log ABN) of the biological ceramic media, r=0.8493(n=25).So, TTC-dehydrogenase activiey is an effective parameter for studying and describing the mechanism of bio-pretreatment of drinking water.
