Asian Herpetological Research Initiated

Recently, Asian Herpetological Research, English academic journal was initiated, authorized by General Administration of Press and Publication of China.

The journal is superintended by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), sponsored by Chengdu Institute of Biology (CIB), CAS cooperated with Science Press and Asian Herpetological Society.

The journey is a quarterly and publishes both at home and abroad. It aims to introduce new achievements and latest progresses from amphibian and reptile research fields and related disciplines both in China and abroad.

Also, it provide related scientific data, technology supporting and decision basis to researchers and administrators; and promote development, communication and international cooperation of amphibian and reptile research.

CIB is the amphibian and reptile research center in China with only specialized museum for amphibian and reptile in China and specimen numbers ranking second in Asia.

CIB undertook the Fourth Asian Herpetological Meeting in 2000 and established long-standing cooperation with experts, scholars and organizations from more than 30 countries and regions.

Over the years CIB has outstanding research achievements about flora classification, phylogeny, evolutionary biology, zoogeography and conservation biology of amphibian and reptile, which include far-reaching books such as Herpetology of China, Amphibians of Western China, Snakes of China, An Illustrated Key to Chinese Amphibians, Fauna Sinica (Amphibia), Fauna Sinica (Reptilia), etc. and important papers published in the international famous journals such as Systematic Biology, Molecular Ecology, Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, Copeia, Journal of Herpetology, etc.
